TEZURA – THE SILENT REMAIN FORGOTTEN

It is over four years since we first came across German metallers TEZURA through their four track demo, Voices. The Munich band has now just released their debut EP, The Silent Remain Forgotten, and of course the first question was has the quartet realised or built on the certain promise of our first meeting with them.

It is a simple answer to the question. The Silent Remain Forgotten is a five-track feast of enterprise and adventure seeded in a fusion of metalcore and thrash metal. That early outing was similarly woven but time since has seen the band really explore and imagine the possibilities in songwriting and music. Their new EP is as brutal as it is seductive and as uncompromising as it is creatively bold and from start to finish a bruising pleasure to behold. It is fair to say that the quartet of Timo Kammerer, Lukas Mayr, Jakob Pflüger, and Maximilian Wopinski have become a potent part of their home city’s metal scene and beyond, our expectation is that The Silent Remain Forgotten will thrust TEZURA upon much larger and boarder landscapes of attention.

The EP opens up with Nothing to Me, the track a sonic force that soon looms upon ears with intrigue and persuasion strapped to its winds. That soon turns into the full tempestuous force that it threatened, rhythms punching through air with athletic spite as guitars weave their webs and vocals roar. It is a cyclone though that twists and turns in invention and deceitful calms, the band’s imagination and craft a potent mix in its striking presence.

The following Down the Drain is just as animated in enterprise and dexterity and from its first breath winds rapacious grooves around ears as rhythms again harass. The multi-flavoured strength of the TEZURA sound brings unpredictability as too their imagination as the song bullies and coaxes the senses and keen involvement, every passing moment seeing ears explore a fresh aspect of its turbulent presence before Remain Forgotten shares a more respectful melodic wind that only proves more volatile by the moment with venom bearing vocal scowls and a predatory gait setting its path. It is a journey though that still slips into tension loaded calms and melodic beauty before forcibly erupting again.

Our Fate is next up and soon sets its own agenda on animosity and temptation. From a brooding bassline amid pugilistic rhythmic jabbing, the track expands and explores a kaleidoscopic landscape of dispute and creative radiance though anxiety and tension prowls every aspect and each dramatic turn if it’s evolving soundscape.

Our favourite moment of The Silent Remain Forgotten comes with its closing track, Still Here. It is a track that embraces a grunge punk breath as it built to its tempestuousness heights, again bass and rhythms a compelling lure in the song’s menacingly calm but melodically radiant beginnings. Unsurprisingly, the passion and emotive turmoil within breaks the surface adding a blazing fire to its already heated presence and a perpetually evolving fusion of evocative repose and scorching crescendos.

The Silent Remain Forgotten had us gripped and enthralled from its first to last second with TEZURA only confirming they have turned that early promise into something powerful and striking with major recognition surely poised to eagerly move in.

The Silent Remain Forgotten is out now and available across most platforms.
