Radio Chip Pan – Happy Now

We all know that you should keep very close attention on a sizzling chip pan and we suggest it is the same of a RADIO CHIP PAN. This fiery proposal is a punk band from Fife in Scotland and thanks to an introductory email from the Dunfermline hailing outfit we bring you their debut album, Happy Now.

There is not much we can tell you about the band as background but as so often in cases like this their release tells you all you need to know.  Released in the twilight of 2023, Happy Now is a ten-track dispute merging old-school, hardcore and feral punk instincts with just as potent inclinations for trap-rich hooks and anthemic arousal. It made for an encounter that had us lustfully swinging, eagerly roaring and itching with irritability, and enjoying every single moment.

Opening with its title track, Happy Now immediately sets out ear-grabbing lures through guitar and rhythmic coaxing. In turn, a heated groove unfurls throughout the track as vocals snarl and riffs nag, the song embracing punk hues from across the decades in its old-school inspired yet freshly bitter confrontation.

The excellent start to the release is firmly backed up by the following Roman Abramovich which similarly lays out craft-cured bait as classic rock-dipped flumes erupt around another rhythmic trespass. Prowling the wider recent landscape around its protagonist, the track nips at the senses as it vociferously scowls providing another moment of keen incitement swiftly matched in craft and bite by Like Share Kill. Vocally and musically it is a nest of hook-bearing vipers, a track physically and emotionally writhing while drawing the keenest participation before making way for the equally manipulative Sick. It is a track that stalks the listener as vocalist Eddie bears his turbulent soul but a track wrapping delicious vines of guitar around ears and soon found and greedy appetite.

All three songs reveal the dextrous fusion of the old school familiar with the band’s own adroit invention and individuality with Leech uncaging its own creative cunning and flavour-varied belligerence in a similar vein and next up Timestorm adding further substance to that tempting within its assorted rock and punk embroiled uproar. Both tracks harass and incite with inescapable success though they are still slightly eclipsed by Freedom and its predacious winds. A cyclone of punk and alt rock ferocity kilned in addiction serving virulence, there was no evading its aggressive hold.

The Saville bruising Jimmy creates its own ear-inflaming clamour next, it too a participation and thought-provoking protagonist before Party At No. 10 brings its dissension-loaded presence before ears with scorched grooves and pugilistic rhythms courted by scathing riffs and vocal discord. The track is also another as unapologetically infectious as it is sonically aggrieved, a fuel of contagion only escalated in the dub-kilned exploits of No Sanitation (no penetration). While bringing the release to an epic close the song further highlights the genre varied hues within the RADIO CHIP PAN sound and its raw adventurous instincts.

RADIO CHIP PAN is a band that is probably still a secret to a great many so we urge your curiosity to go exploring. We did thanks to the nudge of the band itself and in turn nudge you the way of their debut album so you too can be Happy Now.
