Love Frame – Forgiveness

love_frame_RingMasterReview

Creating a fiery and rousing alternative rock roar, Love Frame is a quartet from Milan beginning to whip up some eager attention for themselves. They have provided a potent persuasion in sound and craft for a while with their debut album Forgiveness self-released back in 2014, but a success recently given a bigger vehicle to tempt from with its global release via the excellent Italian label Sliptrick Records. Offering eleven varied and dynamically arousing songs, the seriously accomplished release has constantly picked up new recruits to its melodic adventure and shows no hint of slowing down as band and album continue to reach new ears.

Love Frame began in 2008, releasing a mini EP the following year which soon brought the band to the attention of the Italian underground scene. The single/video Night drew stronger attention with its release in 2010 while its successor Run With Us two years later, only confirmed the strength of the band in sound and resulting support. Live too, they have continued to grow and earn increasing praise in Italy and Europe. Beginning to record their first album in the December of 2013, Forgiveness was released in the October of 2014, the band consisting of vocalist Giulia Lupica, guitarist Laerte Ungaro, and drummer Giuseppe La Gala at this point with the trio assisted by bassist Giuseppe Greco, who became a permanent member post album, on the recording.

Influences for Love Frame include the likes of HIM, Placebo, Billy Idol, Alter Bridge, and Hardcore Superstar; flavours which in varying degrees show their inspirations across Forgiveness, starting with opener Halo. From its first second riffs spicily crowd ears as the harmonic tones of Lupica flame up, her voice a swiftly impressive and suggestive proposal. As rhythms find a firmer touch and the bass grumbles, the song opens up its virulent temptation with those early riffs still enjoyably nagging the senses. They never do relent in their great persuasion across the song, just changing their sonic hues as each twist and turn arrives within the striking Forever Still meets Djerv like triumph.

The following Mine has an even more fiery air and character to its presence; the bass again an appealing throaty temper to tenacious riffs and grooves as well as the rhythmic agitation cast by La Gala. Strolling along with a catchy swing to its gait, the song is an ear grabbing flame with Lupica’s vocals hanging emotive tones from every lively incident within its creative drama; an enthralling quality backed by the delicious imagination of guitar and bass.

coveralbum_RingMasterReviewA Stevie Nicks air accompanies the vocals as the melodic caress of Real Love Exhibition simmers and boils next; its initial lure a tender charm which flows across the song with moments of greater intensity and volatility providing sweeping crescendos across its magnetic landscape. It is a bewitching offering then eclipsed by the outstanding Lie To Lie. An early burst of vocal tempting sets up an eager appetite for the infectious blaze of voice and melodic dexterity, the song in many ways epitomises the album itself; easily accessible whilst being anthemically rousing and bursting with adventurous twists and imaginatively skilful turns.

Through the emotive and rhythmic drama of Heart Box and the melodically snarling Maybe, ears continue to be offered forceful captivation. The first of the pair is as charming as it is imposing, dark rhythms and emotionally charged melodies colluding with vocal flames and stirring enterprise, whilst the second also brings contrasting textures together for its own thrilling and galvanic incitement. There is grouchiness to the riffs and equally the basslines skirting their bait and a sizzling surface to Lupica’s ever impressing and enthralling vocals yet it is all woven into a melodic waltz as elegant as it is fierce.

Lupica offers a vocal kiss on the senses as she opens up Blue next, her emotively reflective caress a mesmeric coaxing into the slightly more feisty body of the song With her delivery rising in intensity to match the blossoming sounds, the song is pure seduction, one of the album’s major highlights and instant evidence of Love Frame’s tremendous ability to blend warm and tender textures with livelier and more imposing incitement.

Escape has band and listener lured into a much more tempestuous moment next, its opening rub of riffs alone enough to whet the appetite before the song expands into another memorable escapade which might not quite match up to its predecessors but leaves a want for more the only wish before Save Me provides a commanding serenade which again has a strong and enjoyable air of Danish rock band Forever Still to it.

Completed by the resourceful adventure and sounds of Start Looking For and finally the acoustic romancing of ears and imagination that is Rakkaus On Ikuista, Lupica as beguiling as ever, Forgiveness is a real treat which only increases the enjoyment felt and impressive thoughts nurtured in its company.  It may not be a strictly new release to ponder but it is one all melodic and alternative rock fans should really consider introducing themselves to.

Forgiveness is out now via Sliptrick Records through most online stores.

Spawned in 2014 and fusing a devotion for synths, blistering riffs and ruthless breakdowns merged with engrossing melodies, The Dreamer Within pull from everyone from Enter Shikari and Skrillex through to Bullet For My Valentine and HIM. Trash Monroe: Addiction Of Duplicities, part 1 EP

Strong and intriguing from the start, the new EP from UK alternative rock band Trash Monroe just gets better and better the more time you spend in its company. Well the first part anyway as part 2 of the release is not unleashed until January of 2013, but going by the pair of stirring tracks offered here there is no reason to doubt the second part of Addiction Of Duplicities will be any different.

Formed in 2003, the quintet from Essex have made a big impression with their sound which has been compared to the likes of Tool, HIM, as well as Skunk Anansie and Pat Benatar in reference to the powerful and impressive vocals of front person Melany Dantes. Completed by guitarists Brad Hurr and Matt Rowe, bassist Ken Mortimer, and Dave Pankhurst on drums, Trash Monroe has lit up stages across the UK alongside the diverse likes of The Birthday Massacre, Raggedy Angry, Black Candy Store, and Undercover Slut. Heavily positive responses across the media have also followed them whether for their shows or previous releases in debut album Shooting From the Lips and Other Crimes of Passion and the Ornament and Batesian Mimicry EPs.

Recorded with Neil Hayes at The Parlour Recording Studio, Addiction Of Duplicities, part 1 is destined to follow suit in inspiring acclaim and support with its two muscular and well defined slabs of melodic rock. First track S.O.B. approaches the ear with a mix of intricate melodic play and fiery yet reserved riffs. It is an immediate mix of shadows and light which is soon elevated with the striking voice of Dantes. The song has a gritty edge to its warm surface which flares up the further the song expands its  creative arms, the drums and bass without being openly commanding against the guitars, forming a sturdy and cagey canvas for the scorched air of the song to lay. When a band has a vocalist with the range and force of Dante there is a tendency to play to that but as the song shows Trash Monroe compliment and push her mighty tones with a creativity and craft equally as mighty and unforgettable. It is not an infectious song as such but lingers long after its departure to keep the elevated emotions during its engagement staying around and thoughts cantered on its earlier presence.

The release is completed by the and best song of the two in the excellent Stupid Again. Again the track builds its tower of forceful energy and intent, the vocal and electric whispers alongside teasing guitars an inciting yet restrained breath leading to the heart of the song. Into its still controlled stride, the track widens into an epic expanse of emotive passion from the continually impressive Dante and a rising charge of sonic grandeur and captivating imagination. The sinews of the song ripple throughout to give the song a bite alongside the melodic heat generated and transformed into a magnetic brew elsewhere. It is an outstanding piece of songwriting and realisation which leaves the opener in its shade a little and only ignites strong anticipation for the forthcoming part 2 of the release.

There is a buzz surrounding Trash Monroe which suggests the band are on the verge of big things, Addiction of Duplicities, part 1, and the great track Bleached Edges Of My Memory which was recently released as a free download taster,  do nothing to suggest otherwise.

Trash Monroe – S.O.B OFFICIAL VIDEO

Promethee: Sickness Unto Death

It feels a long time since Swiss metallers Promethee ignited the ears into vigorous enjoyment with their self titled EP. Since then the world of metal an ever evolving brute, has seen many bands matching and exceeding the very promising debut of the Geneva quintet. Promethee in their time away has also become a more powerful and formidable creature, the proof coming in the shape of their new single Sickness Unto Death. A foretaste of their debut album due early next year the track is a monster of a release, an intrusive and enveloping storm of creativity, imagination, and destructive craft.

Formed in 2008 the band hit the ground at pace playing as many gigs as they could whilst picking up a devoted and passionate following in their wake. The end of the following year saw the band record the tracks which became their first EP, a release which only went to enforce and accelerate the acclaim from all quarters. Now with shared stages with the likes of HIM, Rammstein, The Prodigy, The Dillinger Escape Plan, shows and tours across their homeland, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Hungary and Canada, as well as that successful EP the band has returned a more mature and mightier force. Sickness Unto Death is a statement of intent and a taste of what is to come from this striking band.

Promethee with their previous release created a brew of progressive metal and hardcore which left indelible satisfaction, their thought and craft impacting but with Sickness Unto Death they have found sharper intensity and a keener mouth watering invention to leave the senses breathless. Vocally Joshua Orsi is an emotive bear whilst his power is backed up by a deeper predatory presence from bassist Mathieu Tappolet and a combative yet expertly controlled attack from drummer Nils Haldi. Guitarists Ludovic Lacroix and Elric Doswald like the songwriting weave hypnotic asides into a direct and numbing spine of sound to surprise and engross from start to finish.

The track emerges on a hot wind of atmosphere, slowly bringing its bulk into view with a slow confidence and intimidating intensity. As it expands with the guitars mesmeric as they whip the ear around the forceful beats, vocalist Orsi begins growling out his venom dripping lyrics. The track does not exactly explode in aggression or effect but from initial eager intrigue it slowly wraps the senses with a deeper and fuller infection. The song continues its slow immersion of the ear drawing one in fully before whipping the floor away from the senses and dropping them into a sea of striking and unsettling ambience. The effect is of free falling through consuming depths of emotive ambience, symphonic whispers and unsettling caresses at every turn. It is an outstanding and ingenious twist which as one breaks free, finds themselves in an eruption of rampaging corruptive killer riffs and explosive manipulation trained rhythms.

If this is an example of their album, roll on 2013. Accompanied by an excellent video, Sickness Unto Death sets down a marker for not only Promethee but melodic extreme metal. Time will tell if the eagerly growing expectations instigated by the single will be realised but the band has certainly offered an impressive persuasion that we will not be disappointed.
