ENERGETIC PUNK ROCKERS RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM!

Explosive Brit rocksters ‘My Favourite Runner Up’ drop their eagerly awaited debut album ‘Crossroads’ on 17th February through all digital outlets.
Born in Northern Wales in 2006, My Favourite Runner Up were brought together by their common affection for New Found Glory, Jimmy Eat World, and Mayday Parade. Taking cues from their influences, the band have fashioned their own take, bringing together alluring hooks crossed with cut throat riffery; and the result is sure to win over any modern day rock fan.
Their debut EP, ‘Thoughts, Feelings, Actions’, received coverage from BBC Radio One, Scuzz TV and airplay on Kerrang! Radio, as well as securing widespread acclaim including impressive reviews from Rocksound and Dead Press and a feature interview with Big Cheese Magazine. Singles lifted from the record also gained airplay on all major UK radio stations, and the video for the single ‘Let It Ride’ was play-listed by Kerrang! TV.
In addition to their steady recording output, My Favourite Runner Up have always had a healthy appetite for live shows. To date, they have shared stages with the likes of Madina Lake, Mallory Knox, Kids In Glass Houses, Blitz Kids, Save Your Breath, Bury Tomorrow, The Hype Theory and Neck Deep, and toured with ‘I Spy Strangers’ and ‘Kids Can’t Fly’. Last year was also no different for the band as they relentlessly toured throughout the UK and Europe, further cementing their place as one of the new bands to see live. After a hectic touring schedule, the quartet bedded down in the recording studio with well-regarded producer Romesh Dodangoda (Motorhead, Funeral For A Friend, Kids In Glass Houses, Twin Atlantic) at the controls once again. MFRU now release their full length debut album ‘Crossroads’ which features eleven tracks stacked with thoughtful arrangements and concise and twisted riffs that entwine perfectly with contagious vocal lines. Look out for the anthemic ‘Poison’, which is set to be released as their first video single, and keep your ears to the ground for extensive tour dates as the MFRU boys plan to further stamp their name on the UK scene.

The new AKB’AL album,’…Of Darkness and Light’, uncaged on 10th February

PROGRESSIVE NOISE CHIEFS AKBAL RELEASE EXCITING ALBUM!
With an extensive cluster of intriguing influences spanning from Tool, The Doors and Porcupine tree, to Kyuss, NIN, Alice in Chains and Coheed And Cambria, Akb’al have served up a genuinely exhilarating piece of progressive rock that tips its hat to experimental metal in passing. Akb’al release “…Of Darkness And Light…” on Monday 10th February 2014 through all national outlets.
Akb’al began as a concept back in 2006 when Michael Young-Temple (Vocals, Bass, Tablas, Djembe, Didgeridoo and the Kaossilator!) was coming to the end of a long spell travelling around the world. Initially, his songwriting focussed on the key elements of stoner/prog rock and metal; however due to his experiences from his extensive exploration, he soon introduced world percussion instrumentation into the equation. Michael took these songs to his musical contemporaries, Thoby Davis (Vocals, Guitar, Violins) and Rob Miles (Guitar, Backing Vocals, Synths), and together the trio further sculptured and elaborated on Michael’s early ideas. The band soon recruited long-time friend and current Onslaught tub-thumper Michael Hourihan to play drums, who added extra power and depth to the band’s already established sound.
After further tweaking their sound Akb’al hit the stage in 2010, and since then, the wide-reaching four-piece have extensively played throughout Wales, racking up shows with Ten Cent Toy, Thorun, Chaos Trigger and Fell on Black Days along the way. After firmly establishing themselves regionally, the band headed into the studio to work on their debut album “…Of Darkness and Light…”. The quartet came out of the studio armed with a killer album. Packing seven stunning cuts, the record showcases experimental ambient texturing and engaging soundscapes underpinned by cutting hard rock and thoughtful metal undertones, all bonded together to take you on a progressive journey that will truly inspire and ignite. The album is set loose this February; look for the new video single ‘Equilibrium’ out soon. Also, head on over to the band’s Facebook page for show updates.

Unstoppable North-west sextet ‘Dead Winter’ drop their enticing ‘Erasing Glaciers’ EP through national outlets on Monday 3rd February.

Igniting glowing comparisons to Memphis May Fire, A Day To Remember and Parkway Drive, Dead Winter come at you with powerful guitars, gargantuan choruses and earnest purpose. Dead Winter are quickly picking up the pace and the ascending metallers are poised to be one of the breakthrough bands of 2014.
Formed in 2011 in Blackpool, and featuring Ant Jones (Clean vocals), Laura Russell (Scream vocals), Jamie Townsend (Lead guitars), Martin Worsnip (Rhythm guitars), Danny Dawkins (Drums) and Adam Roberts (Bass), Dead Winter are rapidly taking flight and creating a stir. Soon after their formation, the youthful six-some began work on inking new tunes for their much anticipated debut record. To help make their mark on the scene, the post-hardcore crew honed their sound by notching up shows throughout the north and gaining hearty support in the process.
The Blackpool bruisers are now set to push open the envelope with a reboot of their stunning debut EP ‘Erasing Glaciers’. Serving up six meaty cuts of hardcore amalgamated metal and taking influence from Bring Me The Horizon, Underoath, Oh, Sleeper, and Parkway Drive, Dead Winter produce an explosive record bursting with invention and buoyant intensity, and with esteemed producer Romesh Dodangoda at the helm, you know the production will be top draw. ‘Erasing Glaciers’ kicks off in barbarous fashion with the hammering beatings of ‘Bribe For The Ferryman’ before it rolls into ‘Every Silver Lining’, which deftly highlights the band’s agile use of devastating dynamics. The record’s namesake, ‘Erasing Glaciers’, further drives the six piece’s message home to great effect; Dead Winter are set to rise—catch the UK noise chiefs on tour as they plan a massive onslaught for the early part of 2014.
